The laptop in question I am thinking of has LPDDR4X 4200mhz. ![]() Do you have much of an opinion on LPDDR4X ram when it comes to dwarf fortress? It seems that lower CAS is better and that LPDDR4X does not seem to have lower cas rating than normal DDR4. Which is why prioritize the L1-L4 cache is so important on a game like this I see, this is great information thank you. Each dwarf has dozens of attributes, skills, relevant status effects when in combat, or when crafting something, etc. ![]() Reason being since dwarf fortress calculates an absurdly large amount of data per tick. Which is why prioritize the L1-L4 cache is so important on a game like this If we throw in the 5800U, then 5800U is the best out of all of them, since not only does it keep the 元 upgrades from 5600U, but it has an equivalent L2 when compared to the i5 Only thing i5 got DF wise is a slightly better l2 (but much worse l3). This is why I think it's slightly better. The AMD Ryzen 5600U has a bigger 元 than i5 (double the size), while i5 only has 2mb bigger L2. Ideally if you're aiming to upgrade your laptop ONLY for dwarf fortress, then go for the cpu that has the biggest l1-l4 cache. Im a bit confused because in CPU benchmarks the 5800U outperforms the 5600U but the base clockspeed is lower on the 5800U. Is there someting I'm missing? Also (sorry to confuse things) what do you think about the 5800U? This option also exists. Originally posted by sadu dabi:Why is that? From what i can tell DF prefers single core speed over multi core speed and the i5 seems to be a bit stronger than the 5600U. ![]()

The Design Indaba team made sure the show’s perspectives covered a wide range of the gender spectrum and were careful not to edit any individual point of view. “Colours of Africa is deeply rooted in exalting African design and creativity, and finding artists across the continent who exemplify these qualities was paramount to the selection process,” Pillay said on curating the exhibit. Many of these artists are entirely self-taught, as their countries don’t have art institutions or design schools. To find artists in smaller countries where Design Indaba didn’t already have a footprint, such as Guinea-Bissou, they interviewed creatives who already had a history with the organizations and asked them for new leads. ![]() Additionally, each artist was paid $500, so everyone who contributed was commissioned.” “It was more or less two years from start to finish. “For Colours, Ravi and the team at Design Indaba had already done the hard work of sourcing amazing talent from the entire continent!” Pretorius continued. “Where that project came short was that although we wanted to curate work from all over Africa, it was so hard to reach artists in remote areas that most of the contributors ended up being from South Africa.” “Them-and-Us was a labor of love,” Pretorius said. Their collaboration was inspired by his 2008 project Them-and-Us, which paired 20 European and 20 African visual artists, designers, illustrators and photographers to address the broad themes of tolerance and intolerance. Design Indaba’s Ravi Naidoo and Priyah Pillay in turn reached out to Pretorius, who’d spoken at the 2019 Design Indaba conference. Google Arts and Culture reached out to partner with Design Indaba as a way to include African art in its online collection of work from large institutions around the world. The interface’s visual appeal is enhanced by the letterforms of Movement, Pretorius’ African dance-inspired variable typeface that mirrors the triangular shapes of the kaleidoscope’s rays. We were looking for a way to do something in the digital world that was inspired by physical art, yet would provide a new experience every time.” “You’d get up in the morning, get a cup of coffee, get onto Zoom…it was a very linear way of being. “We used the idea of the randomized kaleidoscope to break away from the strictly linear existence we all experienced during the pandemic,” Pretorius said. The project began in 2020, at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. “The concept came from the idea of seeing the world through a number of different lenses or viewpoints and how these stories together create a larger tale of the multifaceted continent of Africa,” Sjöberg said. The project was designed by typographer/designer Noel Pretorius and his partner, digital strategist Elin Sjöberg, in collaboration with Google Arts and Culture and Design Indaba. There is a pleasing element of surprise for the viewer as they click around the color wheel, exploring the art in a playful and serendipitous way. The interface’s randomized navigation tool gives each visitor a unique path through the art and gives all the contributors an equal chance to be seen. Creatives from a wide range of disciplines (architecture, painting, ceramics, writing, engineering, and the performing arts) were invited to select a color and create an original piece of art that would represent their country as well as express on a personal level what it means to be African. In its non-linear, non-hierarchical structure, no one comes first or last. ![]() The Colours of Africa, an online digital exhibition of work by 60 African artists from the continent’s 54 countries, is based upon the idea of a kaleidoscope where each artist’s contribution is represented by a facet of color. Why not apply a similar approach to art exhibitions as well? But when digital music came along, a newly randomizable experience presented itself. Until fairly recently, music worked that way too, with an album’s tracks playing in a predetermined order. They have a beginning, a middle, and an end, and someone has decided what the visitor sees at each point along the way. Art exhibitions are curated, both in the work they feature and the viewer’s path through the physical space. ![]() ![]() ![]() AND it really passed the test because even my dad liked it! (That’s definitely saying something as he can be picky!) Of course, he thought it could use a bit more sugar too, so I’ll have to make another batch for my parents sometime and make it sweeter. Oh and I used six drops of stevia for the sweetener and that was perfect! So yeah, another winner for sure, and I’m already dreaming about making it again! And probably soon since I doubt this batch will last much longer… And my mom liked it too! When questioned, she said, “Well, you know I have to make those blondies again!” I looked in the refrigerator, and there was a plastic storage container filled with flax seed that she had purloined from my jar. This morning when I went to pack my flax seed, the container seemed suspiciously light. No waiting for a mother with blondies on the mind. Like, as soon as we finished dinner she wanted her dessert. Well, my curiousity got the better of me and I tasted them. And after the blondies came out of the oven, she just kept moving the tray around and did not even try one of them (she usually “tests” everything she makes almost immediately). Mother couldn’t figure out why the weird flax seed stuff was in the house again but I explained that I wanted to try this recipe I saw. Well, this weekend, I went to visit said mother and brought with me my jar of flax seed (which I had taken from her cabinet a while ago because she NEVER used it). She eats a fairly “healthy” diet, but is generally suspicious of things specifically labeled “healthy.” You get the picture. Not a particularly daring or adventurous cook. Now how much is the right to buy the stock at $100 per share worth? The answer is going to be something really close to, but maybe a small discount from, $1,000 (current value of the stock) - $100 (how much you pay based on the option) = $900. News breaks and now it’s trading at $1,000 per share. Now imagine it’s the next day and the company with the $10 stock discovers the cure for cancer or invents time travel or perfects cold fusion. So, again to make the numbers simple, let’s say it’s worth $0.01/option to buy a stock at $100 in the next day when it’s trading at $10 today. It could happen, so it’s worth something. A stock trading at $10 is unlikely to jump to $100 in a day so the option to by it for $100 is not worth much. If it’s the right to buy the stock for $100/share at any point over the next 10 years then that’s worth more than to buy the stock at $100/share in the next day. ![]() If someone came to you and said: how much would you be willing to pay to have an option to buy the stock for $100/share?
